How long after an interview should I hear from company?

-I had an interview last Friday in NYC (where I've always wanted to work and live) and it went very well so well that the eons said "I have to finish interviews before I make the choices, but I would hire you today if I could" but it's going on Friday and I've heard nothing from them other than an email requesting a background check, I submitted my permission, I have no criminal record or anything so that shouldnt deter them. What is taking so long?? I want to quit my current job so badly... Is a week normal time to wait??
